INFORMATION ON LONG DISTANCE BLANKET WRAP PIANO MOVES
Thank you very much for calling on Fox Music House for your
piano moves. We do make trips out of town to pick up or deliver
pianos for customers. Our normal fee is $1.00 per mile, each
way, & if overnight, add food & hotels.. This is the
upper range of costs. If we are taking or picking up more than
one piano sharing the costs would reduce the fees. It is rare
that we would make a trip to Florida, Georgia, North Carolina
or Virginia for one piano. However, we will follow and attempt
to meet the needs and time constraints of our customers.
Piano moving is a skill that is developed over years. Pianos
do not balance well; they are very top heavy. Special equipment
is required to protect the home and the instrument. It is not
abundant manpower but experience and knowledgeable manpower
that assures a safe and successful piano move. You cannot muscle
a piano. The lid and hinges and parts should NOT be taken off
a grand piano when moving. If you see your mover doing this,
call someone else. You will likely NOT see these parts again.
If your instinct tells you something is wrong; STOP the move
before it gets worse, because it will get much worse.
There are two other options for blanket wrap moves. When hiring
a firm to move your piano you need to be sure you have accountability
and quality control. There are so many parts to grand pianos
and you do not want to place yourself in a position where a
party quotes on the move, another party picks up the instrument,
they take it to a warehouse and another trucker picks it up
and they may bring it to you or they may take to another warehouse.
The suggestions below have proven accountability and a positive
record of accomplishment. They specialize in blanket wrap piano
moves for the industry. I strongly suggest you stay away from
third parties that re-box or crate a piano. I can share details
of this position if you have questions.
Keyboard
Carriage: A local dealer, tuner, or piano company likely listed
in the yellow pages in the town where your piano is located would
be “hired” to pick up the instrument and bring to their
warehouse. We could call them for you, or you could call the local
dealers in the area. They are the best and their costs are reasonable.
Their quality is awesome. Alternatively, you could contact Keyboard
Carriage directly and ask them to suggest some dealers they do business
with. Keyboard Carriage will not arrange the move for you; a local
dealer, either us or another dealer will have to fax the request
to Keyboard. If you would like Fox Music to arrange the move, we
will need the make of the piano, the serial number of the piano,
and the height if a vertical and the length if a grand. There is
a $50.00 fee for us to coordinate the service. You will find it
is a lengthy process. There is no reason you should not be comfortable
saving the funds and doing the legwork yourself. I have never ever
had an issue with Keyboard Carriage and strongly recommend them.
