Important Moving Notes:
The lowest fees can be earned and quoted when our skilled staff can provide the moving services between 10-2, Monday-Friday, when we are in the area. The highest fees are charged when moves occur late in the day or on weekends. A human can only move so many pianos in a day, before they give out. We strive to do the second floor and large pianos in the morning, if possible, when we are fresh. We normally move 6-10 pianos a day; except during SPOLETO when the days are long.
We often work with many moving companies that do not want to risk moving your expensive instrument. If you see a moving company taking the screws out of your piano or removing the top, there is a good chance things are going to get worst.
Fox Music House has investment in special and one of a kind moving equipment to safely protect your home and property and assure your instrument is relocated in the same condition the process began. This gear includes dollies that will not harm your hardwood floors, expensive and custom designed heavy duty blankets that protect your expensive cabinet, very unique grand piano skid boards. We have step rollers to protect your steps, too. We are fully insured. Proof of coverage is provided by fax, on request.
Our moving crew is headed by Chevell, and by Troy, JJ, and Matthews. They have a combined 50 years experience in professionally moving piano, organs, and other fine musical instruments. We do not move square grands due to the risk; also known as coffin grands.
Contrary to ole beliefs, moving a piano does not cause it to need tuning. Changes in temperature and humidity are the main causes, as well as time. If the instrument has NOT been tuned in years, then it already needs tuning. Once it is moved, it is best to allow a few weeks for the instrument to acclimate to its new home, and then have it tuned. A list of tuners that Fox Music calls on to tune pianos on our sales floor can be found at (link).
